AB43: Fraserburgh and its Surrounding Area

The AB43 area is one with a rich history; a diverse culture; and, we believe, a very bright future.

At the heart of AB43 is the town of Fraserburgh, but the area also has many picturesque and prosperous villages, including Pennan, New Pitsligo, New Aberdour, Stirchen, Sandhaven, Rosehearty, Inverallochy, Crimmond, Lonmay, St Combs and many more. All of these places bring a diverse and positive influence on the area, and the Fraserburgh Development Trust aims to make a difference in each one of them.

AB43 is a thriving area for fishing and agriculture - in fact, Fraserburgh is home to Europe's largest shellfish port. AB43 also has numerous visitor attractions, including the nationally important Museum of Scottish Lighthouses; a dramatic coastline with beautiful beaches; small and large harbours; the Loch of Strathbeg, and many, many others.

But it's not just these things that make AB43 an exciting a vibrant place to live and visit. For people in the area, young and old, there is a tremendous amount of opportunity to gain new skills and find new and interesting hobbies. The Banff and Buchan College provides a huge range of courses for anyone wishing to further their education or practical skills: from design, to sport and recreation; from health care, to accounting, the college is the place to go.

Fraserburgh is also home to an all weather football pitch, tennis courts, tenpin bowling, a cricket club, and a beautiful beach, which hosts events for the adventurous at heart, such as kite sports and surfing. There are dance classes, hillwalking groups, a karate club, and several golf courses. AB43 really is a great place to have fun, with loads of opportunities to meet other people in the community!

In 2009, the Bank of Scotland's Seaside Town's Review found that Fraserburgh was the second best seaside town in Scotland to live in for quality of life, boasting a higher than average employment rate and a higher than average weekly earnings. It has considerably lower traffic congestion and burglary rates, and - believe it or not - a 25% less than average rainfall rate than most seaside towns in Scotland! It is also one of most affordable Scottish seaside towns to live in.
